The Applications of Smart Card

The trend of the Smart Card Application

In 1980, the magnetic strip cards are popular due to the availability of ATM machine and easy to carry and low cost. The magnetic strip cards are not only in the financial and banking but also in transaction, member cards, credit card and security access system.

Due to the security reasons, magnetic strip card have partly replaced by IC cards but only focus on specific applications during the mid of 1990. And the specifications for both cards are indeed different.

n order to create and integrate the IC interface, SunMasco and Micro Soft have been developed their own card system such as Java CardMultosWfSC. The cards application developers can choose the right system to develop their own COS and applets to full fill the requirements.

The technology of the smart card will be implemented in more mature, more fast of the speed of the processing rate and more large of memory size after 2005. The multi-functions card that include the credit cards, e-purse, authentication, member cards and transportation cards will be implemented to reach the one card solution goal.
